Basketball skills camp for sixth grade boys

Penn boys basketball coach Al Rhodes is offering a fall skills camp for sixth grade boys. The camp starts on September 29 and runs for six weeks. Grissom Parent Academy (G.P.A.) Seminars

Grissom Middle School was recently awarded a grant from the Penn-Harris-Madison Educational Foundation. As the recipient of this grant, Grissom Middle School developed a new project to benefit the entire Grissom family and to bring their middle school community together. The new project consists of two parts and both started at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year. The projects are the Grissom Parent Academy or G.P.A. and the "Family-2-Family" food and clothing pantry.

Pennway Night School welcomes new students

Need a high school diploma? Now is the time to enroll at Pennway Night School where you can work at your own pace on a computer-based curriculum with teachers available to help you. To qualify you must be 18 years old and need a high school diploma. Individuals who have a GED or who are currently enrolled in high school classes are not eligible.

As you know, there have been many stories in the media about H1N1 (also referred to as Swine Flu) and how it will affect schools as we move into the flu season. We want you to be aware of our preparations to minimize the spread of disease, what to expect if H1N1 becomes a problem in our area and how you can help keep our students stay healthy.

Student transfers closed for the 2009-2010 school year

In order to staff each of our buildings efficiently, Penn-Harris-Madison's transfer process is now closed.

No new transfers will be granted for the 2009-2010 school year.

School starts on August 19

On Wednesday, August 19, 2009 students will be welcomed back to a full day of school at Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation. Kindergarten students will have orientation on the first day and start a regular day on Thursday, August 20. KinderClub students will start on Thursday, August 20.

Highlights of the 2008-2009 school year

Here are a few highlights from the past school year. It was a great year with many excellent achievements at all of our schools and we are excited about the opportunities of the year to come.

Penn High School celebrated its 50th anniversary year with many events and activities that involved alumni. The school worked with the South Bend Tribune to publish Penn Remembered, a hardback book filled with photos and memories of the great Penn traditions.

Training required for substitute teachers and aides

All substitute teachers and aides must attend a training session in order to be eligible to work in Penn-Harris-Madison schools. We have scheduled training sessions at different times and dates in order to accommodate a variety of schedules. Here is a flyer that provides additional information.

You can enroll students over the summer

Penn-Harris-Madison parents may enroll students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade at the district's administration building during summer break. Enrollment packets are available at the Educational Services Center (55900 Bittersweet Road) from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have questions about enrollment please call the ESC at (574) 259-7941.

Summer hours for schools and offices

Elementary and middle school offices are closed for the summer and will reopen to serve parents and students on Wednesday, August 5. The Penn High School office is open during the summer with modified hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The high school resumes regular hours of operation on Monday, July 27, and will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
